The Ghostly Haunting of the Country House ...

The ghostly hauntings go back many years. One evening, a pretty blonde woman, in her twenties, who had been dating the bartender came into the bar carrying her infant The Haunted Country Housedaughter. For some reason the young woman became very upset. Perhaps the bartender didn't want to see her anymore, maybe something else. The young woman asked the bartender to watch her child for a little while, but he refused. Very distraught, she left with her child, and minutes later proceeded to drive her car into a tree killing herself.

In 1974 strange and spooky things started to happen. It is thought that this young woman's ghost has returned to haunt the restaurant and all of it's visitors.

Sightings and strange happenings:

  • The young, blonde female apparition tends to hang out in the bar, the storeroom, an upstairs room that was once a bedroom.
  • The juke box has been known to turn itself on, from time to time. One night a man fixing some things in the men's bathroom heard the juke box turn on. Seeking out the disturbance, he walked into the bar area and discovered the young, blonde woman, who appeared to be floating in front of the juke box.
  • Patrons waiting for a table will sometimes hear their names whispered by a woman's voice.
  • Footsteps can sometimes be heard in the restaurant's dining room and hallway, when the rooms are empty.
  • Sometimes people will hear pounding on the walls.
  • Phantom crying babies can occasionally be heard.
  • Pots and pans have moved about in the kitchen when no one is around.
  • The sudden strong smell of fresh flowers may be experienced.
While not known for sure, there is some speculation that the woman apparition may have other ghostly friends that hang around with her and taunt the restaurant's patrons.
